JOB TITLE: Mission Engagement Specialist
FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt, Part-time, Hourly, 20 hrs/week
SHIFT: Monday-Friday, 9:00AM-1:00PM

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
The Mission Engagement Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the Mission Engagement department, which oversees YW3CA’s core engagement initiatives, including the internship, volunteer, and Employee Appreciation programs. Reporting to the Senior Director of Mission Engagement, the Specialist facilitates the recruitment, phone screening, orientation, and onboarding processes for all employees, volunteers, and interns. In addition to talent acquisition, the Specialist ensures that diversity, inclusion, and best practices are woven into every stage of recruitment, onboarding, and employee development. The ideal candidate works effectively both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating the flexibility and initiative required to manage a diverse portfolio of tasks and projects.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (Includes, But Not Limited to):
- Serve as an employee ambassador for staff to ask questions and provide feedback, redirecting employee issues to appropriate HR resources as needed.
- Evaluating current recruiting procedures to determine whether they can be modified for increased efficiency and effectiveness.
- Search for and enforce new sourcing methods to find job candidates.
- Schedule and complete candidate phone screen evaluations.
- Maintain organization and departmental charts and employee directory.
- Complete candidate reference checks, updating department internal procedures to support greater efficiency.
- Coordinate with department leaders to schedule and complete in-person and virtual interviews with potential candidates.
- Assist with new employee, intern and volunteer onboarding and orientation, including the completion of new hire paperwork.
- Manage the clearance application process for new employees, interns, and volunteers and support the reapplication of clearances for current employees. Ensure documentation is properly maintained in personnel files and online systems.
- Liaising with company department heads to anticipate and plan for future recruitment needs.
- Lead the implementation and coordination of employee appreciation and recognition programs with support from the Senior Director of Mission Engagement.
- Ensure job descriptions are up to date and compliant with all local, state, and federal regulations.
- Lead the execution of the YW’s Internship Program, including the attraction, recruitment, and onboarding of interns across departments. Pulse department leaders for capacity to take on interns.
- Assist and expand positive employee relations efforts.
- Coordinates strategic recruitment efforts including attending off-site job and volunteer fairs.
- Provide clerical support to the Mission Engagement (HR) department.
- Maintaining employee records while ensuring a high level of confidentiality and sensitivity.
- Assist in updating and maintaining YW3CA employee handbooks as directed by the Senior Director of Mission Engagement.
- Work with all leaders to make the organization a better place to work for all employees.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Support a collaborative and equitable organizational culture.
- Exemplify the desired culture and philosophies of the organization.
- Other duties as assigned within the scope of position expectations.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE POSITION
- Ability to take initiative, anticipate needs, and exercise independent/sound judgment.
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Excel & Word.
- Ability to work independently, in a fast-paced environment while managing time efficiently.
- Proven ability to work cooperatively with clients, staff, and volunteers of all ages, ethnic backgrounds, and socioeconomic levels.
- Excellent communication skills in English – both oral and written. Ability to utilize communication skills in both internal and external environments.
- Strong time management skills and attention to detail, accuracy of data entry & organizational skills is important.
- Knowledge of and sensitive to the issues facing the community served.
- Demonstrates resourcefulness and flexibility to meet the demands of the position and needs of the organization.
- Understanding of YWCA mission, goals, and objectives with a passion and dedication to connect YW3CA’s employees to these concepts.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, human resources or related field required.
- Must have a valid driver’s license – position may require occasional trips to attend conferences, seminars, and meetings.
- 1-3 years experience in Human Resources and/or Administrative settings preferred.
