JOB TITLE: Facilities Assistant
FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt, Part-Time, Hourly
HOURS: Monday - Thursday 11:00am to 4:00pm and Friday 7AM - 12PM
LOCATION: Pottstown, PA
SUPERVISOR: Operations Manager
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
YW3CA is seeking a Facilities Assistant to join the Facilities team to clean and maintain the organization’s building common areas, offices, and program spaces. Performs general, routine custodial duties, to include dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, and restocking paper and soap supplies. Performs routine maintenance to custodial equipment and supplies.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
- Performs general cleaning and janitorial duties in the common areas of the building
- Responsible for all aspects of floor care, including stripping, waxing, and polishing.
- Performs minor repairs and maintenance such as replacing light bulbs, hanging pictures, etc.
- Assists in cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, cafeteria, classrooms, hallways, windows, offices,
entrances, etc.
- Performs limited grounds maintenance such as mowing and trimming lawns and hedges,
maintaining flower boxes, cleaning snow from sidewalks and spreading ice melt
- Assists with event setup and tear down - setting up tables and chairs, taking out the trash,
sweeping and mopping, transporting supplies or equipment
- Maintains a neat and orderly janitors’ room; ensures cleaning and maintenance supplies are
stocked.
- Assists in examining school for safety hazards; reports deficiencies to Facilities Team Leader, or Operations Manager
- Other duties as assigned within the scope of position expectations.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE POSITION:
- Knowledge of safety hazards and proper use of various cleaning and sanitizing solutions.
- Detail-oriented and thorough.
- Ability to perform basic repairs and operate tools or equipment used in routine maintenance.
- Ability to keep the workspaces clean and orderly without daily task direction or supervision
- Ability to interact with staff, students, parents, and visitors at school while remaining professional, polite, and courteous.
- Understanding of YWCA’s mission, goals, and objectives and ability to work independently with a high level of energy and contribute as a part of a larger team.
- May require working non-traditional hours based on operational needs for scheduled events
Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Must be willing to submit to background checks, in accordance with local laws and regulations.
- Current Health Assessment and TB test.
- Must have a valid driver’s license – position will require travel between all YW3CA locations.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods standing.
- Must be able to lift, bend, stoop, climb, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
